Watch the famous carnival parade as it leaves Hove Lawns on the seafront and see everything from floats to fire engines, roller skaters, drummers and samba bands - a true Rio style carnival procession. It is supported by both the Brighton LGBT community and the wider public in fact most of Brighton celebrates it.. Why not dress in a colourful style to suit the carnival mood?
After the parade we will have a picnic lunch on the beach to the west of the pier where you can either bring your own picnic lunch or perhaps have a take away from one of the seafront fish and chip shops.
At 2.00pm Nigel will lead a walk from the pier along the esplanade and into the historic South and North Lanes areas and carry on to Preston Park where the carnival parade ends and the festival takes place. We will have a sneaky peak over the fence at the carnival ground, as it a paid entry event. Then down back into the centre of Brighton for late afternoon drinks and eats.
As this event attracts large crowds in Brighton we would recommend that you either come by rail to Brighton Station, which is about 15 minutes’ walk from the pier or if coming by car we would suggest free street parking in the area near the Grenadier Pub, 200 Hangleton Road, Hangleton, Nr Hove BN3 7LT GR: TQ271065 and then getting a frequent 5A or 5B bus from the Grenadier Pub for a 25 minute journey to North Street in Brighton which is not far from the pier.
