We're one of Surrey's friendliest walking clubs, and we've come a long way since we were formed in 2011. With 200 members, we now welcome everyone to join us for walks in Surrey and surrounding areas especially Hampshire, South Downs, Sussex, Kent and the Chilterns.
We aim to put on a choice of walks each weekend, plus occasional midweek walks. Walks range from five-mile strolls to longer hikes, with a typical turnout of 10 – 15. We have also completed long distance paths including the Greensand Way and the Serpent Trail. We will be walking the Ridgeway over a number of Saturdays in 2026 and 2027.
We've enjoyed recent minibreaks and holidays in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Exmoor, Cornwall, Jersey, the Cotswolds, Wiltshire, Hastings and the Malvern Hills. Upcoming holidays include the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District.
Our most popular social events are the SABRE Sizzle - our summer barbecue and the Christmas social.
SABRE is part of the Ramblers, Britain's walking charity, which fights to protect our footpath network. We've contributed by doing footpath clearance work and donating a kissing gate.
Our members get involved by leading walks, organising socials and helping to run the club. Members get our monthly SABRE update email packed with news from the club. Ramblers also provide us with discounts at outdoor shops and Walk magazine
